Once winter’s finally said goodbye for the year, many homeowners are looking for ways to bring the light from outside into their homes. A recent question in Herald Homes struck our fancy, in an article titled Creating a summery bedroom.
A reader asked Deb Nelson, “Hi Deb, any tips on creating a summery bedroom? After the winter I’d like to update my room to make it feel lighter and brighter. Thanks!”
Deb had plenty to say and wrote, “Making a few seasonal updates in a bedroom can be a nice way to get ready for summer. A few changes with colors and textures can make the room feel more summery and tranquil. One change you can make is lighter and brighter bedding in the room. By choosing a simple, light color palette you can give the room an instant summery boost. Going with one color, like white or cream, on all of your bedding can be one way to update the room.
Consider the textures in your room too. Lightweight cottons and linens can look visually lighter and are more comfortable for sleeping. Soft, billowing drapery at the window is another instant summery touch. You could consider painting the room if you have a darker shade on the walls. This might be more work than you want to take on, but going with a soft pastel shade can really transform the room.
White can instantly make a room feel more fresh and crisp. Whether it’s a new white nightstand or a white chair, it can give the room a pretty, soft look. Think about changing the window treatment in your room for summer. If you have a heavy drapery on the windows, switching it over to light cotton or a sheer can make a difference.”
We agree with all of Deb’s points. As she says, changing the window treatments can have a huge impact. Switching out heavy drapery with light cotton or sheers can totally transform a room and let in maximum light. Half Price Drapes offers great discounts on all your window covering needs.
