    Decorating Tips for Small Spaces

March 4, 2016 By hpdadmin Leave a Comment

Who do you hire for a remodeling project?

Decorating can feel challenging when you have limited space to work with. Half Price Drapes has compiled some unique and useful ideas to help you make the most of your space.

Don’t let an inch of space go to waste

As you consider all the space in your small home or apartment, make sure you’re not just looking at the rooms as they are now. Open up your options by viewing any empty space with potential. For example, an empty space between two closets in your bedroom can easily be made into an office nook. Just add a shelf at the height you want your computer and you’ve created a desk for next to nothing.

Turn narrow bathroom shelves into much more

Narrow shelves in the bathroom are a great place to store cotton swabs, lotion, and other toiletries. If you want them easily stored but you don’t want the bathroom to look cluttered, just add a stylish curtain to cover it all up.

Don’t get caught up with labels

Don’t think of rooms as having a single purpose. Remember that multipurpose rooms will make you feel that you have a lot more space. For example, an extra bedroom can be more than a spare for guests to stay in: it can be a home office, a child’s playroom, and a craft room.

Keep the colors light and breezy

If you want your home to feel larger, be sure to avoid dark colors when you’re decorating. You want light colors that will attract light and open up the place. Look for sheer curtains that let in plenty of light, yellow, white, or light gray couches, and other light touches to make your home look bigger.

    Add floor to ceiling curtains

Many small spaces look even smaller because they have short, small windows and low ceilings. Make a room look bigger by hanging your curtains all the way from the ceiling. Doing so will draw the eyes up which creates the illusion of a larger room.

Reflect the best parts of your home

Mirrors serve a ton of purposes and are the perfect addition to small spaces: they reflect light to create a breezier feel, they are visually interesting, and they can make a room look larger. There are thousands of types of mirrors out there so you can be sure to find something that fits in perfectly with your décor, whether it’s vintage, modern, or something in between.
