The innovative TV show begins with 12 expert designers divided into two teams. Each week the teams must renovate a California home and show their masterpiece off to the neighborhood. Week by week designers are eliminated if they fail to live up to expectations.
USA Today calls the new show a cross between "Project Runway" and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."
"We wanted to have a fun show, an energetic show and be bigger than any design show that's been out there," host Nate Berkus tells USA Today. "We're welcoming homeowners back into the space, welcoming the designers to showcase their true talents and creativity, and welcoming America into these spaces […] It's really a show about beauty. "
Berkus is joined by joined by co-founder of landscape architecture firm EDGE and former NFL running back Eddie George and star of HGTV's Designed to Sell and designer Monica Pedersen, who both help him judge the competition.
The designers have access to an array of materials, both expensive and inexpensive and must re-model both the interior and exterior of the space.The winning designer receives a cash prize of $250,000. Only time will tell who proves victorious!
