It's Monday, which means we have a whole bunch of trends to report on from this weekend's Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. If you've been keeping up with our blog, you know that award show fashion often takes cues from the home design sector, and vice versa. Check out some of the top trends seen at the glamorous award show and learn how to apply these styles to your home.

  • Black and gold: A trendy spin on the classic little black dress is to pair this color with gold accents. A number of stars—including Helen Mirren and Katrina Bowden—stepped out on the red carpet showcasing this trend. To apply this style to your own home, look for black statement items, such as a leather couch or dark custom curtains and drapes, and make these fixtures pop with gold picture frames, vases or even bedazzled throw pillows!
  • Blue: "While the Golden Globes saw a lot of dresses the same color as the red carpet, the SAG Awards was 'flooded' with gowns in different shades of blue — from the cobalts (Anna Gunn, Amy Adams, Kelly Osbourne) to the navy blues (Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling, Jennifer Garner)," writes Jesselle Maminta of the International Business Times. "And if turquoise is a shade of blue, then maybe we can count Lupita Nyong'o's amazing Gucci frock?" Blue is applicable to nearly every room in your home, ranging from the bathroom to living room.
