Just when you though award show season was over, MTV hosted the 2014 Movie Awards this past weekend. If you've been keeping up with our blog, you know that the interior design realm often takes inspiration from the fashion world and vice versa. Take a look at some of the top trends we saw this weekend and learn how to apply these styles to your home:
Classic black: You can't go wrong with classic black. This neutral hue is applicable no matter what season it is. "You'd think of all award shows, risk-taking stars like Nicki Minaj and Rita Ora would choose something especially daring for the MTV Movie Awards, but they must have been in a sophisticated mood, because both stars chose floor-grazing black gowns," writes Emily Popp of E! News. Now that the weather is warmer, opt for simple black accents that can enhance your home's design without appearing too dark.
Gorgeous green: Both Jessica Alba and Shailene Woodley were green goddesses at the award show. Alba paired her white crop top with a trendy lime green skirt, earning her a spot on many best dressed lists. Up-and-coming A-lister Woodley opted for a crop top as well, glowing in a mauve mustard green hue. This color is right on trend for spring 2014! In fact, Pantone has even named hemlock, a pastel green, as one of it's top colors this year. We love the idea of sprucing up your windows with pale green curtains or drapes.
