The stars weren't the only ones receiving makeovers for this past Sunday's Emmy Awards. Nokia Theatre's "green room" was transformed into a purple paradise with the help of Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Award-wining designer Joseph Altuzarra. The clothing designer, who just finished debuting his spring 2014 collection at New York Fashion Week, had the challenge of bringing his vision to the interior design realm.
Altuzarra began with a placid gray-purple canvas after he painted the walls in the "green room" with this light shade. He then added decorative furniture with a French vibe. Purple suede couches equipped with a myriad of throw pillows created a relaxing area for stars to enjoy. An antique gold bar-cart with crystal drinking glasses let winners make a toast in style. Also added to the room were beige chairs, glass end tables, and a decorative mirror. Fresh orchids, candles, and coffee table books finished off the luxurious look.
Altuzarra took inspiration from his day job as a fashion designer and applied his expertise to the home and decorating sector.
"Doing interiors felt very natural in a way, it felt like a brand expansion for us and a good introduction to this world," Altuzarra told E! News. Juggling duties, the designer picked out carpet and vintage furniture while at dress fittings for NYFW.
