When it comes to decorating your home, it can be easy to get distracted by the big picture and gloss over the minor details. While it is certainly important to have a general idea of how you want a room upgrade or renovation to look, it is equally crucial that you have all of the small touches included so you can make sure that your house stays on-trend for the styles that are currently popular.
"You may not think much about the knobs and handles on your kitchen and bathroom cabinets, credenzas and other furnishings, but these small touches can be the jewelry of your home and are an inexpensive yet important design remodel," designer Eric Cohler told the Seaside Courier.
Here are a few of Cohler's tips for improving your home in small ways:
- Keep it fresh: Different aspects of your home's interior should be changed every couple of years, so you do not get bored of how your home looks. Switching things up is a great way to keep your interior fresh and vibrant.
- Layered look: Incorporating different finishes and surfaces in your home can give the room a layered look, which is more visually striking than keeping it traditional. Cohler advises against keeping the fittings of a room identical.
- Metals: According to Cohler, metals are a very hot trend in the home decor world. Nickel, bronze and copper are all very popular selections to have included in your house – whether as a doorknob or your sink fixture.
