In the past few years, there has been a rise in the number of those who work from home everyday or on a frequent basis. This kind of professional flexibility allows people to be as productive as they would be in an office from the comfort of their own residences.
While this can certainly be a good thing, it is all too easy for people to fall into the traps of distraction that the house can represent. To stop this from happening, there needs to be a space – separate from all the action – that is used solely for the purpose of working. Laying out your files and computer on the dining room table just isn't going to cut it!
Here are a few tips for designing a home office space:
- Choose the location well: Before you begin creating the office, you will have to pick out the space. If you anticipate spending many hours in there, you need to make sure that you have enough room to fit everything you need and still be able to move around. The room should also be quiet and separate enough from the rest of the house.
- Let in the light: Instead of having to rely on lamps and other sources of light, make sure that as much natural sunlight as possible can enter the room! This can help cut down on your anxiety and stress levels as you work.
- Use colors you love: The best part of creating your own office is that you can tailor it to fit your personality and likes! Instead of choosing a bland beige for the walls and furniture, you can instead fill the room up with your favorite color, which can dominate everything from your throw pillows to the curtain valances.
