Spring is in the air! Although most of the country suffered through a harsh winter, warmer days are on the horizon. You're going to want to give your bedroom a makeover to coincide with the balmy weather. Take a look at some of our suggestions to create a light and airy bedroom:
- Lighten up your color palette: "Lavender is a lovely choice for spring and summer bedding, and looks fresh and current against crisp white plank walls," writes Laura Gaskill of Houzz.com. "Try mixing a large-scale floral or botanical print with a smaller geometric print and a solid, all in the same hue, for a polished look." You can also opt for lightweight curtains in a chic lavender hue.
- Remove heavy blankets: Now that the weather is warming up, there isn't a need for heavy blankets on your bed. Switch these linens with lighter varieties. For instance, instead of your fleece throw, opt for a kantha quilt, which is made out of lightweight materials and can be used as a bedspread in the spring and summer months.
- Transform your furniture: If you have an old dresser or end table in a dark hue, you can give this item a springtime makeover by painting it white. This simple switch can make your whole room look bigger and brighter. For a pop of color, add bright knobs on these furniture pieces, or place a bouquet of bright flowers on the end table.
